Where's my voice? is a collection of raw conversations with professional singers who have experienced significant vocal challenges and are willing to talk about them.

I interview vocalists who have experienced vocal disorders such as hemorrhages, nodes, cysts, tremors, pareses, and muscle tension dysphonia. Others have gone through—or are currently in the thick of—transitions related to menopause, pregnancy, chemotherapy, gender transition, and the aging voice. All of them have had to redefine their relationship with their voice, often rebuilding their technique and even reinventing their very musical identities.

This podcast is for all singers. If you've ever wondered what the emotional journey of experiencing a vocal upheaval is like, look no further. If you're going through something yourself, this is the place for you. With each conversation, you'll feel more inspired and less alone in your own vocal journey.

Meet your host!

Seven years ago, I suddenly found myself completely voiceless.

It wasn't the first time I'd wondered, "Where's my voice?" I'd already had plenty of suboptimal vocal experiences, the proverbial "bad voice days" when I was sick, tired, or out of alignment. It was the first time I wasn't sure if I'd ever find my voice again.

But the impetus for this podcast wasn't my experience with vocal paresis. Rather, it was the community I fought to find throughout my recovery. In sharing my own story, I got to hear others'. Together, we helped each other continue healing by destigmatizing the humanness of our voices and appreciating anew how they continue showing up for us.

The only constant is change. "Where's my voice?" is a question we'll continue asking ourselves over and over as we go through the many transitions of life. I can't wait to share these equally fascinating, heartbreaking, and hopeful conversations with you.
